This course provides a foundation in the practices and materials associated with painting.
Working from direct observation, students develop an understanding of formal concerns, as well as paint manipulation, to produce strong representational paintings.

The course of study is designed to introduce you to and develop the traditional Western methods of drawing through direct observation and measuring with accuracy.
Closely integrating compositional ideologies, symbolism, and intention to create authentic works of art from the viewer's and the artist's perspective.

This course is designed for students who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art.
AP® Studio Art is not based on a written exam; instead, students submit portfolios to The College Board for evaluation at the end of the school year.
This drawing course corresponds to the most common college foundation courses.

Advisees will pursue, study, work on, research, or extend an area of genuine personal interest over the course of the year.
Whatever they choose to work on during this personal interest time in advisory should be interesting, fun, or meaningful for them.
